Sammye - I don't think I saw you mention
how much sodium azide was being handled and for how long. It will certainly
make a difference in glove selection. I'd have a hard time convincing anyone
that the risk of sodium azide in the lab (an occasional measuring of very
small quantity) would require the silver shield & over glove versus
doubling a pair of nitrile & removing them immediately. If they're
working in manufacturing and handling large quantities for 6-8 hour shifts
- no doubt about the extra protection. This is the same problem with trying
to use industrial standards in the lab. PSM is great but won't apply to
the labs, but I can certainly use some of the concepts.
